Description1965 Holden HD Premier X2 Sedan (22076880995).jpg
Aroona Blue with a Fowlers Ivory roof.
The HD Holden was built from Feb 1965-April 1966
The HD was a completely new body, wider and longer than the old EH, creating more space. The unusual design of the front edge of the fender extending past the front headlight was considered not only ugly, but dangerous, ie, pedestrian safety and headlight effectiveness.
Good news was disc brakes were now an option and the Hydramatic automatic transmission dropped for the new Powerglide.
Like the EH, the HD was available in three models;
Standard; 149 cu in, rubber floor mats and single tone paint.
Special; carpet, stainless steel window surrounds, 179 cu in option, two tone paint option.
Premier; 179 cu in, auto, disc brakes, bucket seats, console, radio, heater, special wheel trims and sill moulds.
The high performance 140hp X2 option was available on the Special or the Premier, it got extra gauges, twin carbs, high lift camshaft and new inlet and exhaust manifolds
Engines; 95 or 100hp 149 or 115 hp 179 red 6s (X2 140hp 179)
Sedan; Standard, Special, Premier or X2
Wagon; Standard, Special or Premier
