Minister Blok (Buitenlandse Zaken) bezoekt vrijdag 20 april Marokko. In Rabat ontmoet hij diverse vertegenwoordigers van de Marokkaanse regering. Hij zal onder andere spreken met de Marokkaanse premier Saad Eddine El Othmani, zijn ambtsgenoot Nasser Bourita, minister van Binnenlandse Zaken Abdelouafi Laftit en minister van Justitie Mohammed Auajjar. Marokko is om verschillende redenen een belangrijk land voor Nederland. De geschiedenis tussen de 2 landen gaat ver terug en er is een speciale band door de grote Marokkaanse gemeenschap in Nederland. Marokko is de 5e economie van Afrika en een voorname handelspartner. Minister Blok, die in oktober nog Marokko bezocht namens het kabinet, snijdt daarom een breed scala aan onderwerpen aan in Rabat. Marokko ligt aan de poort van de Europese Unie (EU) en van de Middellandse Zee, waardoor de samenwerking met betrekking tot migratie en veiligheid des te relevanter is. Marokko is een belangrijke gesprekspartner voor Nederland en de EU op het gebied van migratie en contraterrorisme. De minister spreekt ook met het maatschappelijk middenveld over actuele ontwikkelingen in Marokko. |
