He is born to D Lakshmana Prabhu  (a bank clerk) & Jayasree Prabhu in a Gowda Saraswath Brahmin family, at Changanacherry, Kottayam, Kerala.

He is married and have two kids. From childhood  onwards Sreenesh was inspired by the musical vibes at home, as radio and tape recorder were always in air. In an interview he quoted "Father was working in bank and once he back home,as a stress- breaking technique, he used to lie on bed and sing, by drumming on wooden cot & as a kid i noticed it and it lit interest in me,which introduced me many famous songs of Devarajan Master, Ilayaraja Sir;further happened to notice songs with a special tone "Gentleman ""Duet" "Rangeela" and many more played on music system by my cousin brother Rajesh Gopalakrishna Prabhu. Advent of A R Rahman Sir fuelled my music interest.."

Music ran this guy mad and had failed for 2 papers in Degree exam, but instead of scolding, knowing the  pulse of son, father made him join at Rev.Thomas D Thycattusherry's institute of music "Sadas Music ", Parelpally, Changanacherry, Kerala. (Further he cleared degree and had MBA Finance too.) As referred from an article written in Talented Bankers Official page,by Mr.Naveen Remanan/Mrs.Arya Gayathri, Sreenesh 's mother Jayasree  planted seeds of Carnatic in him and got more manure especially influence of his maternal grandfather R Rajendranath Naick..an ardent carnatic music lover cum businessman in Alappuzha town. Sreenesh's  younger brother Ganesh L Prabhu used to buy different genres of music albums which enriched Sreenesh 's music knowledge  a lot and brother happened to be instrumental for the debut album during floods January 2019
