Academic life

edit

Kurnaz works as a professor in the Physics Department at Boğaziçi University.[4] In 2014, he founded Boğaziçi University Center for Climate Change and Policy Studies (iklimBU).[6][7] Kurnaz is the director[5] and iklimBU contributes to the regions of Central Asia,[8] Middle East North Africa (MENA),[9] and Australasia[10] for the International Coordinated Regional Climate Downscaling Experiment (CORDEX)[11] led by the World Climate Research Programme. He is the founding co-chair, and board member of United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN SDSN) Turkey.[12][13] His scientific studies are mainly on climate science and sustainability[14]

Other activities

edit

Kurnaz has spoken at various international and national meetings and organisations, such as the Social Good Summit[15] and TEDx Talks,[16][17][18] and made a substantial impact outside academia particularly to increase the awareness of Climate change in Turkey.[19][20][21] Kurnaz has been much quoted by national media, such as Anadolu Agency[22] and Hürriyet.[23]
