During the Israel–Hamas war, Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris has been critical of Israel and Hamas' conduct during the war.

Harris initially condemned Hamas and its attacks on Israel. She supported Israel's campaign against the group, but throughout the war, became increasingly opposed to its methods and the humanitarian crisis caused by it. She has been viewed by analysts as being ahead of the administration on the conflict.

Background

Before the war, Harris took a generally pro-Israel stance on the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. She supported a two-state solution and military aid to Israel.^[1]

In 2019, she voted against the Combating BDS Act. Despite her support of Israel, she opposed the law over concerns it would violate the First Amendment.^[2]
