Chengyang District (simplified Chinese: 城阳区; traditional Chinese: 城陽區; pinyin: Chéngyáng Qū) is a district of Qingdao, Shandong, People's Republic of China. It has an area of 553.2 km2 (213.6 sq mi) and around 740,000 inhabitants, as of 2013. The district is located at the northern outskirts of Qingdao City proper. Chengyang includes mountainous terrain, plains, and areas of sizable agriculture.

Line 1 and Line 8 of Qingdao Metro serve the district.

Chengyang railway station and Hongdao railway station are located in Chengyang District.

Qingdao Liuting International Airport is located near the urban area of the district. The airport was closed and replaced by Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport. Qingdao Airlines has its headquarters within the district.[1]

Chengyang District is located in the eastern part of Laoshan District, in the southern part of Licang District, in the western part of Jiaozhou Bay and Jiaozhou City, and in the northern part of Jimo District. The geographic center is near 36°20′N 120°12′E / 36.333°N 120.200°E / 36.333; 120.200 and has a total area of 553.2 square kilometers.

Climate

Chengyang District is located in the north temperate monsoon region and has a mild monsoon climate. Due to the direct regulation of the marine environment, the city is influenced by the southeast monsoon from the ocean, sea currents, and water masses, so it has significant maritime climate characteristics. The air is humid, the rainfall is abundant, the temperature is moderate, and the seasons are distinct. In spring, the temperature rises slowly, one month later than inland; in summer, it is hot and humid, but there is no heat; in autumn, the sky is high and cool, with little precipitation and strong evaporation; in winter, the wind is strong, and the temperature is low, and it lasts longer. The extreme high temperature is 37.4 °C (July 27, 1997) and the extreme low temperature is -16.4 °C (January 10, 1931) The hottest month of the year is August, with an average temperature of 25.1 °C; the coldest month is January, with an average temperature of -1.2 °C. The sea surroundings directly influence Qingdao and has obvious characteristics of sea and land breeze.

As of the end of 2019, the resident population of Chengyang District was 850 thousand, an increase of 3.1%. The annual birth population is 7,902, the population birth rate is 14.0‰, the death population is 3,219, the population mortality rate is 5.7‰, the natural growth population is 4,683, the natural population growth rate is 8.3‰, and the birth rate is 98.7% in accordance with the policy.

According to the data of the 7th census, the resident population of Chengyang District was 1109606 as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020. [29] Compared with 737,209 people in the sixth national census in 2010, the population increased by 372,397 people, or 50.51%, with an average annual growth rate of 4.17%.

The region has 365,727 family households and 37,793 collective households, with a population of 962,793 people and 146,813 people in collective households. The average population of each family household is 2.63 people, and the family household size is 0.03 less than the 2.66 people in the sixth national census in 2010.

  • In 2019, Chengyang District achieved a gross domestic product of 112.183 billion yuan, at comparable prices, an increase of 6.4% over the previous year. Among them, the value added of the primary industry was 1.723 billion yuan, down 3.2%; the value added of the secondary industry was 55.625 billion yuan, up 6.0%; the value added of the tertiary industry was 54.835 billion yuan, up 7.3%, and the structure of the three industries was adjusted to 1.5:49.6:48.9. According to the results of the Fourth National Economic Census, the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Statistics preliminary accounting of the 2018 GDP was revised, and the gross product of Chengyang District (excluding the former Red Island Economic Zone) in 2018 was 92.621 billion yuan, of which the added value of primary industry was 328 million yuan, the added value of secondary industry was 46.311 billion yuan, the added value of tertiary industry was 45.982 billion yuan, and the ratio of the three industries was 0.4:50.0:49.6.
  • In 2019, the general public budget revenue of Chengyang District completed 15.34 billion yuan, an increase of 9.2%, of which tax revenue was 12.66 billion yuan, accounting for 82.5% of the general public budget revenue—the overall stability of financial credit. As of the end of December, the RMB deposit balance of financial institutions in the region was 123.353 billion yuan, an increase of 8.3% over the beginning of the year, of which the savings deposit balance was 62.008 billion yuan, an increase of 12.7% over the beginning of the year; the loan balance was 104.903 billion yuan, an increase of 24.0% over the beginning of the year.
  • In 2019, the per capita disposable income of residents in Chengyang District finished 55,795 yuan, up 8.1% year-on-year, higher than the city's 10,343 yuan. Among them: urban residents per capita disposable income of 58,599 yuan, an increase of 6.6%, higher than the city's 4,115 yuan; rural residents per capita disposable income of 24,400 yuan, an increase of 6.4%, higher than the city's 1,827 yuan.

Among them, the value added of primary industry is 1.795 billion yuan, an increase of 2.6%; the value added of secondary industry is 56.895 billion yuan, an increase of 2.4%; the value added of tertiary industry is 62.273 billion yuan, an increase of 8.5%. The ratio of the three industries is 1.5:47.0:51.5.
  • At the end of 2020, the total number of market entities in the region reached 203,500, with a registered capital of 639.150 billion yuan, an increase of 23.7% and 28.1%, respectively, over the previous year. The annual addition of 19,000 private enterprises is the same as last year; 21,000 new individual business households increased 3.3% from a year earlier.

  • By the end of 2018, there were 396 national high-tech enterprises in Chengyang District. There are 336 "100 million thousand sails" enterprises in the district. The district has 31 science and technology business incubators recognized by the city for the record, ranking first in the city. The incubation carriers have introduced and cultivated 1,200 science and technology-based small and micro enterprises, among which 68 are national high-tech enterprises. The total number of crowdsourcing spaces in the region has reached 12, of which 6 are at the national level. The total number of engineering technology research centers above the municipal level has reached 29, including 2 national and 7 provincial. The region has won 32 science and technology awards above the municipal level. Among them, 12 provincial science and technology awards, 20 municipal science and technology awards. 56 enterprises in the region were recognized as "special and new" products (technologies), reaching 148 in total, and the number of valid invention patents reached 35 for 10,000 people. The total amount of technology transactions in the region reached 2.03 billion yuan, an increase of 21.7%.
  • At the end of 2020, 349 national high-tech enterprises in the region were recognized, and the total number reached 969. There are 1,214 science and technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises in the region. A total of 16 technology business incubators have been recognized at the municipal level or above, of which 7 are at the national level and 1 offshore incubator in China and Korea has been officially listed. One provincial-level technology innovation center and 52 municipal-level technology innovation centers were added, and the total number of municipal-level technology innovation centers in the region reached 83, including one national-level and two provincial-level ones.
  • In 2020, the region won 41 science and technology awards above the city level, among which 14 provincial science and technology awards and 27 municipal science and technology awards were won. The technology transaction volume of the region reached 3.5 billion yuan. The annual number of patent applications is 1,954, the number of invention patent licenses is 676, and the number of valid invention patents is 4,163.

As of the end of 2018, there were 59 standardized schools above the municipal level in ordinary primary and secondary schools in Chengyang District, of which 47 were standardized schools at the provincial level, accounting for 90.8% and 72.3% of the total number of schools, respectively; 95 model kindergartens above the municipal level, of which 37 were model kindergartens at the provincial level, accounting for 62.9% and 24.5% of the number of kindergartens, respectively. At the end of the year, there were 224 primary and secondary schools and kindergartens (including private schools, Pei Chi schools, nine-year consistent schools, 12-year consistent schools, vocational schools and secondary classes attached), with 124,160 students and 10,390 teaching staff. Among them, 17 general secondary schools (including 5 high schools and 12 junior high schools), with 27,238 students and 2,505 staff; 4 vocational schools (including private schools and attached secondary classes), with 8,036 students and 661 staff; 46 elementary school, with 55,366 students and 3,036 staff; 151 kindergartens, with 25,456 students and 3,637 staff; and special education schools, with 25,456 students and 3,637 staff. In 2020, 52 new primary and secondary schools and kindergartens will be renovated and expanded. At the end of the year, there will be 280 primary and secondary schools and kindergartens (including private schools, Pei Chi schools, nine-year schools, 12-year schools, complete secondary schools, vocational schools and secondary classes attached to them), with 161,593 students and 13,892 staff members. Among them, 19 general middle schools [including 5 high schools, 14 junior high schools, 1 high school class attached to vocational education center (not counting the number of schools)], with 34,664 students and 2,922 staff; 4 vocational schools (including private schools and secondary classes attached), with 6,905 students and 634 staff; 52 elementary school, with 67,823 students and 3,759 staff; kindergartens 193 kindergartens with 38,321 students and 5,067 staff; 1 special education school with 216 students and 42 staff; 7 nine-year schools with 11,664 students (including 8,928 students in elementary school and 2,736 in junior high school) and 854 staff; 3 twelve-year schools with 1,817 students (including 562 students in elementary school and 757 in junior high school) There are three 12-year schools with 1,817 students (including 562 students in elementary school, 757 students in junior high school and 498 students in high school) and 577 staff members; and one complete middle school with 183 students and 37 staff members.

Cultural business

By the end of 2018, Chengyang District had implemented and completed the renovation and upgrading of 80 community cultural centers, held more than 5,000 mass cultural activities, had 126 branch libraries, and distributed more than 30,000 books. The song "Red Army Crossing" and the dance "Children's Fun in the Field" won the 11th Shandong Provincial Culture and Arts Festival and the city's sixth "Haiyan Award" for original works of mass literature and arts competition, winning two first prizes, two second prizes, one third prize and the best organization award, the number of awards and achievements ranked first in the city. Hu Xiaohua ("Legend of Hu Yiyang" inheritor), Wang Xiuxun ("Legend of Wang Bangzhi and <Lu Zhengsheng>" inheritor) were selected as the fifth batch of national and provincial-level intangible heritage projects representative inheritors, and the total number of intangible cultural heritage protection projects above the municipal level reached 28.

In 2020, the construction of public cultural facilities will be accelerated, and the first 24-hour self-service library will be built in the district; WeChat will launch the "Book City Yang" digital reading app, and the intelligent and digital construction of public libraries will be accelerated; a pilot project for the integration of the functions of provincial cultural and tourism public service institutions will be created. The district archives were completed and opened to the public, and more than 10 thematic databases on people's livelihoods, such as marriage, youth, environmental protection, and graduate registration, were established. The district library has added more than 30,000 books and 420 newspapers and magazines, bringing the total number of books in its collection to 668,000. More than 3,000 mass cultural activities were carried out. The fifth batch of representative projects of provincial intangible cultural heritage was completed, and four projects, including "Wuli Pan Drum", were successfully selected, the first in the city.

Health care

As of the end of 2018, there were 731 health institutions (including clinics and health rooms) in Chengyang District, including 28 hospitals and health centers, 12 community health service institutions, 1 maternal and child health institution, and 690 outpatient clinics, clinics, infirmaries and health rooms. At the end of the year, there were 3,398 medical beds, and 6,322 health technicians of all kinds, including 2,653 doctors and 3,179 nurses in the region.

In 2020, the second medical institution in the district (Chengyang Campus of the City Women's and Children's Hospital) was completed and delivered, and Shulan (Chengyang) Hospital signed a framework cooperation agreement. At the end of the year, there were 827 medical and health institutions (including clinics and health rooms) in the district, including 35 hospitals and health centers, 17 community health service centers (stations), 1 maternal and child health institution, and 774 outpatient clinics, clinics, infirmaries, health rooms, and other medical and health institutions. At the end of the year, the region had 4,106 medical beds, 7,131 health technicians of various types, including 2,938 doctors and 3,205 nurses.

  • Chengyang District is located in the north of Qingdao City, with plains on two sides, mountains on one side, and the sea on the other side, with Jiaozhou Bay Bridge, Jiaozhou Bay Tunnel, and Jiaodong International Airport close at hand. Jiaoji Railway, Qingrong Intercity Railway, Qinglian Railway, Jinan-Qingdao High Speed Railway, Qingxin Expressway, Jinan-Qingdao Expressway, Qinglong Expressway, National Highway 308, National Highway 204, Yanqing Highway, etc. are intertwined and connected to the inside and outside. It is a comprehensive land transportation hub that must be passed in and out of Qingdao city center, an important pivot point for Qingdao to connect north and south and east and west, and an important pivot point and connection point for the integrated development of Jiaodong Economic Circle. 
  • There are various ways to travel within Chengyang District, with two lines, Qingdao Metro Line 7 Phase I and Qingdao Metro Line 8 Phase I, opening for operation at the end of 2020 with an operational mileage of 39.4 km. The first demonstration tram line in Shandong Province was officially opened in March 2016. The line's first phase is 8.77 km with 12 stations, connecting the main areas of Chengyang, with a maximum speed of 70 km/h and accommodating more than 300 people per vehicle. There are 102 bus lines, the total mileage of line operation is about 1520 km, the length of the line network 506 km, the average daily bus passenger volume of the line is about 320,000 passengers. There is one highway passenger station at Qingdao North Bus Station.
  • By the end of 2018, Chengyang District had an annual passenger turnover of 50.66 million kilometers, up 3.7%; freight turnover of 4,241,860,600 tons kilometers, up 3.2%. The Jinan-Qingdao high-speed railway and Qinglian railroad were opened to traffic by the end of the year, and the time from Qingdao to Jinan was shortened from 2 hours and 40 minutes to about 1 hour and 30 minutes. There are 73 new transport enterprises, 1,530 transport vehicles, 48 new pure electric buses, 18 bus lines opened and optimized. At the end of the year, there were 5,751 transport vehicles in the region, operating 90 bus lines and 1,354 buses.
