Although many U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, this airport is assigned BQR by the FAA[1] but has no designation from the IATA.[2]

The runway at Buffalo-Lancaster Airport was planned to be extended from 3,199 to 5,500 ft (975 to 1,676 m), to be completed in 2010, which would have allowed it to accommodate larger airplanes and private jets. The airport is also an emergency landing site for Buffalo Niagara International Airport (handling smaller aircraft).
