Åland's Autonomy Day (or Åland's Self-Government Day; Swedish: Ålands självstyrelsedag) is celebrated annually on 9 June in memory of Åland County Council's (since 1993 Åland's Parliament) first meeting on this date in 1922.[2][3][4] Åland's self-government from Finland was established by the League of Nations in 1921, after the Åland Movement raised the issue of island reunification with Sweden.[5][4]
