Andrew Findon

Andrew (Andy) Findon is an accomplished English woodwind player, having received his education at Harrow County School and The Royal College of Music. Since 1980, he has contributed his skills as a baritone saxophonist and flautist to the Michael Nyman Band. Additionally, he is affiliated with musical groups such as Home Service and Acoustic Earth. Findon is recognized for his ownership of a platinum flute meticulously crafted by Charles Morley in 1950 specifically for Geoffrey Gilbert.

Apart from his contributions to ensembles, Findon has maintained an active role as a session musician, lending his talents to numerous albums spanning diverse genres. His work extends to composing and recording for esteemed music libraries like EMI's KPM and Made Up Music. Additionally, he has been prominently featured on solo panpipe CDs released by reputable labels such as Virgin Records, Crimson, and EMI.

Findon has released several solo albums, including Tracked, which debuted on the Quartz label in 2005, and When The Boat Comes In in 2007. In 2008, he undertook the transcription and recording of Michael Nyman's Yamamoto Perpetuo for solo flute, an extensive piece consisting of eleven movements spanning 37 minutes. His CD Density 21.5, showcasing unaccompanied flute compositions, was issued by Nimbus Alliance Records in August 2011. Subsequently, in May 2013, Nimbus released The Dancing Flute, featuring a compilation of compositions for flutes and piano by pianist and composer Geoff Eales.
