Dr Alasdair Pinkerton is a British Liberal Democrat politician and associate professor of geopolitics at Royal Holloway University,[1] who has been Member of Parliament for Surrey Heath since 2024.[2]

In 2013, he served as an accredited observer of the Falkland Islands referendum.
Early life and career
editPinkerton was born and grew up in Scotland,[3] attending university in St Andrews.
Parliamentary career (2019–)
editPinkerton first sought election to Parliament in 2019 in Surrey Heath delivering an unexpected 11.1% swing against incumbent Michael Gove. He spent the next five years pursuing Surrey Heath for the Lib Dems,[4] seeing them come close to taking a number of Surrey County Council seats in 2021 and then taking control of Surrey Heath Borough Council in 2023, for the first time in its 49-year history.[5]
