The Maharashtra Premier League is a Twenty20 cricket league in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It was founded by the Maharashtra Cricket Association, the governing body of cricket in the state.[1][2]

The inaugural season was held at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in 2023, with six franchises.
History
editIn 2023, the Maharashtra Premier League was launched. The league was aimed to make up for the absence of high-profile matches in Maharashtra every year and to expose talented players from districts.[citation needed]
The league shall feature top players of the state (across IPL and international). Inspired by the success of India Premier League (IPL), the league will have world class production quality and broadcast. It is the grand exemplar of cricketainment thrilling experience for local fans and audiences. The major aim of this league is to unearth new talents from the state.[citation needed]
The Tournament Is Scheduled To Start On Friday, 15 June, And Will Conclude On Sunday, 29 June. It Will Be The First Edition Of The Tournament.
In the league's first seasons, teams chose players using a draft system, having previously had the opportunity to sign a limited number of players directly.
A Total Of 32 Matches Are Scheduled To Take Place In This Edition Of The Tournament At The Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium In Pune.
A Total Of Six Teams Are Going To Participate In The Tournament. These Six Teams Are: Puneri Bappa, Ratnagiri Jets, Kolhapur Tuskers, Eagle Nashik Titans, Solapur Royals, And Chatrapati Sambhaji Kings.
In the final, Ratnagiri Jets defeated Kolhapur Tuskers by Rain to win the inaugural title.
Tournament structure
editSix city-based teams will compete during the school summer holidays.There will be 28 matches in the league stage of the tournament, with the top four teams qualifying for the semi-final stage. The winners of both the semi-final matches will be the finalists.
Administration
editThe Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) founded the league in 2023. The league is affiliated to the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI). The league plans to expand to eight teams and add a women's league in 2024.[3][4]
